here to help

our goal

The top priority of Shawna’s House Youth Mentor Network is to help our youth successfully navigate through the transition into adulthood

  • Here to help youth learn to take charge and focus on what they can influence rather than what is out of their control

  • Here to help youth learn to demand the best of themselves and accept responsibility for their actions and attitudes

  • Here to help youth learn the importance of positive and effective communication and teamwork

  • Here to help youth understand the importance and value of education

  • Here to help youth understand the value of diversity and to be confident within their own identity so that they are able to accept and respect the differences of others

  • Here to help youth learn when to work independently and when to ask for needed help

  • Here to help youth and mentors learn that they have the ability to make a difference in the lives of others

Our Programs

MENTOR NETWORK

Group and one-on-one mentorship are available. Please contact us to inquire or enroll in individual teen mentor sessions.

TEEN CHAT ROOM

Teen Chat Room, our pioneer group mentorship program is a place where teen voices are lifted. This program is for youth between the ages of 13 and 18. TCR offers group discussions once per month from October to June on every 1st Saturday. Please contact us for more information.

Our sessions are held in a safe community space where youth can engage in positive and respectful conversations under the guidance of adult mentors within the Shawna’s House mentoring network. Teen Chat Room has philanthropic focuses on Suicide Awareness & Prevention (S.A.P) and Stop Texting & Driving.

COMMUNITY SERVICE and social engagement

We believe in cultivating and nurturing a young desire to serve. In addition to group discussions, Teen Chat Room participates in community service projects and social networking outings.

YOUTH FINANCIAL LITERACY WORKSHOPS

We are investing in our youth today to improve the future of our community tomorrow. Each of our Teen Chat Room group discussions includes a 30-minute Financial Literacy Clinic, geared to educate youth about finances. With a mission based on Getting Youth to Focus on Generational Wealth! Our goal is to get youth to become financially responsible. We believe that financial literacy is priceless. By teaching our youth about understanding credit, savings, budgeting, and even homeownership, we are laying the foundation for youth to create generational wealth!
